Hello,

we have been using SFORA 5.0MP3 for quite long time. Since there is 5.1 and 6.0
for some time we are considering upgrade. Can anybody share his/her experience
about stability of 5.1 and 6.0 compared to 5.0 (MP3) ? The stability is the most
important for us and that is what concernes us.

Hello Przemyslaw,

To my mind SFORA 5.0MP3 was more stable. I used it for many years without too much problems with DMP.
After installing 5.1SP1 we got some troubles with DMP . Nevertheless Symantec produced some new patches to correct the bugs. It seems to me it works ok now.
ZFS is good for LiveUpgrade for global or local zone roots. And if you want to use zfs on DMP you must upgrade to 5.1 SP1 plus all patches.

Depending on your storage backend, we found that default VxDMP 5.1 and up
MinimumQ load balancing model was not as well/consistently performing as
Balanced under certain conditions on EMC Symmetrix hardware with many FA
paths (8+). This could hold true for other storage arrays. We've reverted
back to Balanced manually as it was per earlier patch revisions of 5.0 for
performance sensitive apps.
