[Veritas-vx] Using vxdmp with iscsi multipathing on solaris 10

Hi, I'm going to start using the solaris 10 iscsi initiator in a environment
that has multiple paths to the array luns (netapp). I'm finding very little
in regards to using vxdmp in a multipathing solaris 10 iscsi environment. Is
vxdmp supported with multipathed iscsi on solaris 10? Anyone using it and
any gotchas I should be aware of?

If yes it is supported, is there a minimum version that I need to have to
use it?

Thanks,

To the best of my (personal) knowledge it is supported. There was an
issue with path auto-recovery which is resolved in Solaris 10 update 8.

Just be sure you are up to date on the Symantec side as well with latest
version patch, should be fine.

Thank you Ashish and Terrie. This is good to know.

One more question for you if you don't mind. Are the ASL and APM modules
still required when using iscsi and S/W initiators? My experience is with
FCP where they are needed and I'm not sure if the same is true for iscsi.

Thank you,

Just looking through the HCL and it looks with our Netapp FAS3170 array,
iscsi is supported with SF 5.0 but not with SF 5.1. Is this just an
accidental omission in the HCL or is iscsi support dropped for netapp in
5.1?

5.1 HCL (page 36):

Odd, looks like the Netapp FAS3100 series were dropped from the SF 5.1
version of the ASL/APM's. It's especially odd because this is
a relatively new platform, was supported in 5.0 and is newer than other
models that are still supported in SF 5.1....

Romeo, you should always have the correct ASL and APM modules for the
devices you will be using. ;)
